Both food businesses occupy contiguous spaces on Ninth Avenue and 45th Street, one of the city’s most popular restaurant areas. The second deal was for City Sandwich (649 Ninth Avenue), a gourmet Portuguese sandwich store owned by Michael Guerrieri, who was born in Naples, Italy; raised on Long Island, and operated a celebrated gourmet shop in Lisbon called Mezzaluna. City Sandwich will have a sleek, upscale Mediterranean look. Its gourmet sandwiches will contain Portuguese, Italian and American ingredients, some of which will be imported and some of which will be domestic. And all of which will be mouth-watering delicious! James Famularo was instrumental in locating, negotiating, and consummating the deal for City Sandwich. As usual, he oversaw all the necessary steps, bringing in such consultants as attorneys, designers, contractors, and expediters. “I worked tirelessly on this deal; I have a lot of faith in Michael and in his concept for an upscale, gourmet Portuguese sandwich shop. Indeed, I believe that it will be so successful that Michael will soon be opening shops in major cities around the country,” said Famularo. Famularo has been a long-time member of the Real Estate Board of New York, the New York Nightlife Chapter of the NYS Restaurant Association, and the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC).
